A special congregational meeting of the Jericho Congregational Church will be held on August 9, 2015 in the Church Sanctuary after the first service at approximately 9:30AM.
The purpose of the meeting is to vote on updates to our Constitution & Bylaws:
- Improve quorum and approval requirements for our Pastor call motions
- Add “Biblical” before key words such as marriage, counseling, confidentiality, discipline, and accountability
This is an open meeting. All (both members & attenders) may attend, but only church members may vote on a motion. Once a nominated Sr Pastor is ready to be considered by the Congregation, then a meeting will be held to vote on a call for this candidate. The Advisory Board is concerned that only 13 members are needed to approve the call with a majority passing the motion in a meeting quorum of only 25 attendees. The new quorum requirement is 80% of active members with 90% voting to approve a pastor call motion.
Hardcopies with highlighted changes of the Constitution & Bylaws will be available at our church as well as linked below.
Constitution & Bylaws – Highlighted updates
The mission of the Jericho Congregational Church is to glorify God as a worshipful and nurturing body of believers. Under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, and through the power of the Holy Spirit, we proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ and the truth as revealed in God’s written Word, the Holy Bible. As we disciple one another to maturity of faith and use our spiritual gifts and talents, God will unify us and make His love known in our church, community and the world.
