"The ministry of Wycliffe Bible Translators is a highly technical work. We use professionals in just about every career discipline you can imagine.

"Wycliffe works with languages in the Bible Translation task, but most modern computers (both large and small) cannot adequately handle the rigors of foreign languages beyond the major European and some Asian languages. As a  computer consultant I help design the next generation of software tools that Wycliffe will use for the next 1000 minority languages. Most of these languages do not have a writing system yet.

"In Papua New Guinea, I help translators use their recalcitrant machines to capture language data, do linguistic analysis with our custom software, and eventually typeset the Scriptures using characters that you and l would find strange to look at. Here at Ukarumpa, our linguistic and aviation center in the Highlands of Papua New Guinea, we also have a small campus with a large Local  Area Network (LAN). This too, needs lots of maintenance and improvements to keep our various offices, including Helen's Medical Clinic, running smoothly. We always have needs for Information Technology (IT) professionals at all levels in our work.
