David Coons

Senior Pastor

I’m a native Midwesterner who’s been crossing cultures for most of the past 20 years. Almost a decade of that has been teaching, pastoring, and exploring in the mega-cities of China.  While there, I met my wife Katie, and together our family has grown to include Josie, Asher, and Eliza. In the middle of our China journeys, we were also treated to three outstanding years studying at Regent College in Vancouver, BC.

With the longing to put down roots, to know and be known in a place, our family moved to Jericho, VT in late 2015. I serve here as the Senior Pastor at Jericho Congregational Church. I continue to enjoy many “cross-cultural” moments in New England as I continue to discover the many things to love about this place.

I’ll take whatever excuse I can to be outdoors to run, cycle, swim, ski, and hike!  Indoors, I love sharing a meal, drinking a great cup of coffee, reading, and streaming an eclectic mix of new music on the stereo.

Peter Anderson

Youth Pastor

Pete Anderson had the joy of growing up in the pews of the Jericho Congregational Church!  It was during those years of Sunday school classes, youth group events and Chicken Pie Suppers that Pete met Jesus and developed a love for His Church and Word. It was also there that Pete met his wife, Cherri.  During their early married years on Boston’s North Shore, Pete and Cherri both engaged in ministry positions: Pete as a Bible teacher and chaplain at a Christian school, and Cherri as a resident director at Gordon College, their alma mater.  In 2013, after the birth of their daughter, Charis, the Andersons felt free to move back to Vermont, where Pete began work as a landscape installation foreman.

In March of 2020, Pete accepted the call as the Youth Pastor at JCC.   Both Pete and Cherri are humbled and honored that the Lord has opened the door for them to pour into the young people of this place in the same way that they were poured into almost twenty years ago!  Pete longs to see a generation of youth that share a commitment to the truth of Scripture, and a love for God and neighbor.

Pete enjoys making old things new again, exploring the outdoors, and spending time with Cherri and their three children, Charis, Henry and Boaz. As for his other interests — legends abound regarding funk bands, beatboxing and rap music, but no one knows for sure if they’re really true…

Office Manager

Since 2014, I have been the Office Manager for Jericho Congregational Church. As part of this team, I manage the church facilities, oversee church communication and manage our social media presence. When you call our church office, or reach out via email, you will often connect with me. Throughout my career, I have served in this role in both spiritual and educational environments, and truly enjoy helping teams to flourish and realize their vision.

I was raised on the west coast in Southern California. Twenty years ago, I moved to the Green Mountain State with my husband James (a Vermont native) and this is where we have raised our three children, Samantha, Caleb, and Joshua. It has been a joy to explore what Vermont has to offer and to see God’s handiwork all around us.

Church Leadership

The Jericho Congregational Church’s leadership team is made up of its Advisory Board. The Advisory Board consists of the Senior Pastor; Youth Pastor; Officers of the Church; two representatives of the Board of Deacons, Prudential, and Christian Education, and one representative of each of the remaining committees and organizations of the Church.
